Pixel’s Daily wallpaper feature rotates images from a wallpaper category. Google says it does not work with your personal photos or live wallpapers. A downloaded picture from a website is not automatically enrolled in a daily rotation.

Choose the right starting point

This guide concerns the built-in Pixel feature, not a third-party slideshow app. Menu labels and available collections can vary with software. Start inside a preset category rather than your photo picker.

Enable Daily wallpaper

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home screen.
  2. Open Wallpaper & style, then Change wallpaper.
  3. Choose a wallpaper category.
  4. Tap Daily wallpaper at the top right and confirm with OK.

Why your own photo cannot be selected

Google excludes personal photos and live wallpapers from this particular feature. Use Choose a photo for a static image instead, then preview and apply it. Do not look for a rotation toggle inside every individual downloaded image.

Preset categories compared with personal photos and live wallpapers

A useful way to check your choice

Write down whether you selected a preset collection, a personal photo or a live wallpaper. This simple distinction prevents spending time troubleshooting the wrong feature. For a static download, compare your crop with the original before deciding the file itself is wrong.

If Daily wallpaper is absent

Return to a category and check its available controls. Record your model, software version and collection name when seeking help. Do not assume every wallpaper option has the same features.
