A missing WhatsApp profile picture alone does not establish that someone blocked you. Privacy choices and loading problems can also explain what you see. First determine whether others cannot see your photo or whether you cannot see someone else’s.
Start with one clear observation
Open the contact or chat and note whether the problem affects one person or many. Record what actually appears: a blank avatar, an old photo or a loading problem. Avoid turning that observation into a claim about the other person’s intentions.

If others cannot see your photo
Review WhatsApp Settings > Privacy > Profile picture. Make sure the intended audience is included. If you deliberately excluded someone, their inability to see your picture is expected. Ask a consenting trusted contact to check the result; do not widen the audience simply as a troubleshooting shortcut.
If you cannot see a contact’s photo
WhatsApp’s Help Center explains that privacy settings, contact relationships and temporary connectivity problems can affect profile information. The other person controls their own photo and audience. Your phone cannot override that choice.

If several photos fail to load
Check your connection and that WhatsApp is current. Compare the same contact again after the connection is stable. If the problem persists, use WhatsApp’s in-app help and describe the number of affected contacts and the timing. Avoid repeatedly deleting contacts or reinstalling the app without understanding the effect on your data.
What a useful outcome looks like
For your own photo, the intended contact confirms visibility. For another person’s photo, you may only establish that the app is loading normally; you cannot independently confirm their private settings. Do not use third-party profile viewers that promise to bypass privacy.
